October’s Featured Artist Ty Childress: Mountain Ranch photographer Ty Childress offers Gallery visitors a delightful selection of framed and matted prints that include scenic studies, landscape and rural whimsy, regional and national sites, cards, special frames made from the heartwood of Butte Fire burned cedar. Mondays, October 2 and 16: Daytime Writers Unlimited Meetings in Angels Camp at MAE from 9-11:30 am. Writing exercise and sharing, plus manuscript feedback with fellow writers. Craft sharing, resources, editing by colleagues all available. Join the group – 18 & over. $35 annual membership provides networking, marketing, facility privileges. Meetings free.
Mondays, October 9 and 23: Evening Writers Unlimited Meetings at its new meeting location: Volunteer Center of Calaveras in San Andreas at 255 Lewis Avenue on the lower terrace of San Andreas Elementary School from 6 to 9 pm. Share work, prose and poetry, and all genres and levels, with kind writers. Craft exchange, resources, editing by colleagues all available. Sign up to be a Writers Unlimited Member – 18 & over with writer networking benefits. $35 annual membership. Meetings free.
Wednesdays, October 4, 11, 18, 25 from 2-4 pm: Voices of Wisdom, Preserving the Stories of Our Elders, a free weekly writing class series designed for 55-plus seniors, continues at the Murphys Senior Center, 65 Mitchler Avenue, Murphys. Participants take all four sessions in a month with an instructor and write toward a finished essay or memoir. Participants from all sessions are welcome to join in. The writing program is made possible by a generous grant from the Calaveras Community Foundation. Saturdays from 6 to 8:30 pm – Song Posse meets for an evening of music sharing, poetry & storytelling. Drop-in guests are always welcome! Many genres are represented with a clear preference for acoustic. Come to participate or just listen and enjoy. First Saturdays 5:30-8pm at the Center for Creativity back barn, at 23 W. Saturday, October 21: Mark Twain Wild West Fest, Downtown Historic Angels Camp – all day. Gold Rush Village, Western-style bands and musicians, food, drinks, gold nugget raffle, Mark Twain humor with Pat Kaunert, and more. MWP has a book booth with local authors featured. Manzanita artists will display their work during the festival. Activities FREE!
Wednesday, October 25, 6 to 7:30 pm: Cristi Canepa’s Photography Class. The $25 fee covers all class materials. Participants bring their own camera.
